Information on the Artist

Roxie Spell is a clay artist living in Pasco County Florida. She works with stoneware and she also works with polymer clay.  She is a member of  The Potter's Guild of Florida's Gulf Coast, Dunedin Fine Arts Center and Florida Botanical Gardens.  She is the Director and one of the founders of Florida's Fusion of the Arts.

I have been surrounded by art since I became aware. From Music, Dance, Theater  and Art Museums, I was fortunate enough to be exposed to many forms of art. My interest was peaked with the third dimension of art. The ability to see all sides of a piece fascinated me. As I got older, I became more interested in the beauty and the art of nature. The simplicity yet the complication of a leaf,  the gnarled trunk of an aged tree, flowing water, snowflakes, wind blowing and the creatures of the land, air and sea. Seeing the beauty in life and in nature I try to create pieces that reflect that vision. I use all of the colors of nature, which includes the entire spectrum, and love the organic imperfections of high fire glazes. Each piece is unique and original and I try to create something that is not only beautiful but also functional . From leaf vessels and my tea leaves, to hand carved scenes of nature or the title of the piece. I strive to represent art in nature and nature in art.
